I wanted a Magic draft that felt a little like Wordle: a fresh, shared challenge where everyone starts with the same packs. Draft with the bots, build your forty-card deck, and see what you make.

Then the experiment begins. Forge—a free, community-built Magic game engine—plays your deck against shared reference decks and other entrants over and over. Its AI has limited Magic skills, so the results aren’t definitive. But it’s pretty cool to see how a deck fares across hundreds of games instead of just one or two.

About the computer player

This isn’t a claim that Forge plays perfect Magic.

The simulations aren’t definitive competitive analysis. They’re little Magic tournaments I make the computer play because I think that’s fun. Sometimes Forge makes an odd decision. Honestly, so do I.
